Technical Information
Product Description

BETOCURE W is a wax based emulsion concrete curing compound. Single component and is ready to apply on freshly poured concrete to prevent rapid evaporation of water. The resultant film allows high curing efficiency to be maintained even in conditions of intense ambient light.

The solvent-free membrane forming wax emulsion retains sufficient moisture in the concrete to ensure full hydration of the cement.

Advantages
  • High curing efficiency
  • Cured film is clear and water repellant
  • Water based. Eco-friendly
  • Solar reflectant
  • Creates a dust free, hard wearing surface
  • Eliminates the need for water curing
  • Reduces surface cracking and shrinkage
  • Reduces labor costs
Compiliance Standard
  • ASTM C 309, Type I & II , Class A
  • BS 7542
  • BS 8110, Part 1

Application Information
Instructions for use

Pre-application

BETOCURE W should be gently stirred immediately before use to ensure even dispersal of the pigment.

Application should shot not begin until concrete is free from surface water and should not commence if bleed water is apparent on the concrete surface.

For horizontal surfaces BETOCURE W should be applied as soon as the initial surface sheen has disappeared from the concrete surface. Any trace of laitance, grease or loose materials should be removed.

It is essential to dampen the concrete with water prior to application

Application

BETOCURE W should be applied as evenly as possible to the freshly place concrete at a rate of 5m²/liter. During unfavorable conditions such as high temperatures or windy seasons, rate of application might be increased.

Application should be back and forth to ensure complete coverage. The emulsion cures to form a clear film which provides a moisture barrier to enable to attain the desired degree of curing efficiency.

Motorized or knapsack spray equipment which produces a fine spray is recommended for use of BETOCURE W.

The time for the deterioration of the membrane is dependent on a number of factors such as film thickness, degree of exposure to weathering and traffic.

Subsequent Finishes

BETOCURE W is compatible to a variety of finishes including:

  • Various polymer modified repair mortars
  • EPOXY RESIN coatings which do not rely on penetration for substrate bond
  • Water based emulsion paints
  • Bituminous emulsion
  • Paints based on PVA, acrylic co-polymers
  • It is recommended that an onsite bond test is carried out to determine absolute suitability.

Cleaning

Equipment and tools used should be cleaned promptly with water.

Recommendations

  • BETOCURE W should only be applied in well ventilated areas
  • BETOCURE W should not be applied during rainy days
  • Do not dilute or mix BETOCURE W with other products
  • Concrete containing calcium chloride will look dark when treated with BETOCURE W.
Additional Information
Health & Safety

BETOCURE W does not fall into hazardous classification of current regulation. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin or eyes in either spray or bulk form.
