Application Information
Instructions for use

Surface preparation

The surface of the concrete to be prepared shall be sound, clean and uncontaminated.
This preparation shall be such as to leave a sound exposed concrete surface free from dust, loose particles and any deleterious matter. If the concrete surface is defective or has laitance, it must be cut back to a sound base. Excess laitance deposits should be removed by light mechanical scrabbling, grinding or grit/captive blasting followed by vacuum cleaning to pick-up dust debris.

All cracks and imperfections shall be repaired using BETOFINISH F, a cementitious fairing coat 0-3mm thickness.
New concrete floors should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days before applying the primer.

Priming
The substrate must be treated with Primer A18, a synthetic resin high penetrating primer.
PRIMER A18 should be applied by brush or roller on to the cleaned surface area (particularly hidden surfaces) at a rate of 5-7m²/Liter.
The primer should be left to achieve a tack-free condition before applying the top coat. A second coat of primer may be required if the substrate is excessively porous.

Mixing
Pour into a container with 5.0-5.25 Liters of water the 25 Kg bag of AUTOLIVELLANTE. Mix with a low speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle for 2 minutes scraping sides and bottom of the can, until a uniform, lump free consistency mix is achieved. Allow the mix to stand for 3 minutes and then remix again for 1 minute.

Mix a quantity of product that can be applied within 30 minutes only. Do not remix with water if the mixture had already begun to set

Application

Pour the mixed product into the surface and spread to the desired thickness using flooring rake and a spike roller. Protect the floor after leveling the mix from direct sunlight, high winds or rain. AUTOLIVELLANTE can be applied for thickness from 3mm up to 10 mm per layer.

It is possible to apply flooring material on top of AUTOLIVELLANTE screed (such as ceramic, carpet, etc.) after nearly 48 hours from curing the product (depending on the thickness, the supports humidity and weather conditions).

Curing

Curing of the completed floor shall be carried out using a combination of damp hessian and polythene sheet for a period of no less than 2 days.

Cleaning

The product is self-leveling and requires minimal finishing or troweling operation. Clean tools and equipment with water before the material hardens.

Recommendations

  • Do not apply if the temperature is below +5⁰C.
  • During summer season or temperature higher than +35°C, working area should be covered to prevent the direct sun effects. Keep equipment cool and use cool water..
  • Ground floor slabs on sloping gradient must incorporate a damp proof membrane in the sub-floor.
  • It is advisable to use with cool water (mix temperature should be +25⁰C max).
  • Protect the freshly applied AUTOLIVELLANTE from direct sunlight and/or strong drying wind.
  • AUTOLIVELLANTE should not be applied over asphalt, weaker friable concrete, PVC tiles, or sheet substrates.
  • AUTOLIVELLANTE should not be applied over metal substrates.
  • AUTOLIVELLANTE should be cured for two days by covering with wet Hessian cloth and polythene sheet.

Additional Information
Health & Safety

AUTOLIVELLANTE can be harmful to skin as it contains cement powders which may releases alkalis when mixed with water.

During application, wear appropriate protective clothing, goggles, gloves and respiratory equipment if necessary.

In case of contact with skin, rinse with water and again wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice accordingly.
