Surface Preparation
All surfaces where the JOINTEX BT is to be applied must be dry, smooth, clean, free from dust, laitance or loose materials. When otherwise necessary, it is highly recommended to use compressed air or a wire brush in order to remove further dirts, oil stains and other inconsistencies. Make use of a torch to ensure that the concrete is absolutely damp-free.
Slabs
JOINTEX BT when installed in in-situ concrete to form an expansion joint, the product shall be placed against the shuttering on the concreting side just before the pour begins. In cases of suspended slabs, use copper nails in order to prevent displacement in joints.
JOINTEX BT can be bonded to the existing slab or previous pour by the use of a suitable COLMEF product adhesive. However, proper care should be taken into consideration not to pollute surfaces of the sealing slot with adhesive.
Joint Sealing
JOINTEX BT can be cut consequently according to the required depth of the slab by the use of a power brush machine. In order to fill the joint completely, thus providing a superior continuous support for the joint sealant, tamp down thoroughly the product into the required area making sure to seal the gap entirely.
Thickness
JOINTEX BT is available in 12 & 20 mm thick boards.
Warning
JOINTEX BT is combustible and will catch fire if exposed to flame or other sources of ignition.
There are no health hazards in connection with JOINTEX BT in normal use.
