Primer for Joint Sealants
SEALPRIME is a low viscosity single component adhesion promoting primer for movements and control joints in porous substrates. It forms a chemical bridge at the interface between the concrete surface and the sealant which is applied into the joint.
n Ready for use
n Low viscosity, easy application
n Quick drying, fast recoating time
n Strengthens the adhesion of joint sealants to porous surfaces
Packaging:
SEAL PRIME is supplied in 1 Liter metal containers.
Consumption:
7.0 – 8.0 m² / liter or approximately 200 meter for 10 mm deep joint.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place and keep away from all sources of heat and sunlight. In a tropical climates store the material in air-conditioned rooms. The product maintains its stability for 12 months in unopened conditions and if stored as per recommendations. Excessive exposure to sunlight, humidity and UV will result in deterioration of the quality of the product and reduce its shelf life.

Surface Preparation
The joint surface must be clean, dry and free from loose and flaky material, efflorescence, laitance, curing compound, dirt, oil, grease, any old coatings.
Surface defects at edges and corners of the joints should be repaired using appropriate Colmef Repair Products and allowed to cure for the specified duration as recommended in the respective technical data sheet.
Where necessary, clean the joint surfaces by grinding, sandblasting or mechanical abrading to produce a coarse surface profile. Remove any dust, dirt loose particles before priming.
Ensure that the substrate is absolutely dry before the primer is applied.
Mixing
SEALPRIME should be stirred thoroughly before use.
Application
Apply SEALPRIME to both the sides of the clean, dry, joint faces prior to installation of backer rod or bond breaking tape, by brushing in a thin uniform coat. Avoid applying too much primer as it may act as bond breaker.
Use primer as is, do not thin with solvents.
Allow the primer to be tack free before applying sealant. Sealant must be applied the same day as the primer.
For obtaining a clean and neat finish, masking tape shall be applied on both the edges of the groove before applying the primer and shall be removed, once the sealant installation is complete.
Cleaning
Tools and equipment should be cleaned with SOLVENTE 10 from Colmef immediately after use. Hardened material should be removed mechanically. Spillages should be absorbed with sand or sawdust and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Recommendations
n A suitability test before application is recommended for specific crystal and marble tiles to check for discoloration or staining.
n For application on non-porous substrates like glass, metal, please check with Colmef Technical Department.
n Highly flammable liquid. Do not apply near smoke or naked flame.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Protective clothing such as gloves and safety goggles should be worn during application.
Treat any splashes to the skin or eyes with fresh water immediately.
Should the product be accidentally swallowed, do not induce vomiting, but call for medical assistance immediately. Ensure adequate ventilation & avoid inhalation of vapors.
