SBR Bonding Agent for Cement Mortar & Concrete
SBR LATEX RIPRESA is a styrene butadiene polymer latex with high bonding characteristics. It is stable under wet alkaline conditions forming a reinforcing polymer matrix within cementitious mixes including concrete, screed and mortar. It is mixed with cement mixture to give higher adhesion power to all surfaces, extra bonding strength, excellent plasticity, higher impermeability and flexure resistance, higher abrasion and acid resistance and can be considered as a waterproof admixture when mixed with cement.
Packaging:
SBR LATEX RIPRESA is available in plastic container of 20 lit and 200 lit.
Storage:
Keep sheltered from frost or direct sun and in original tightly closed containers.
Shelf life:
12 months

Surface Preparation
The surface must be clean, sound, solid, uncontaminated and compact. Contaminated material, dust, corrosion, grease substances and old paints must be completely removed.
The decayed or damaged area to be repaired should be marked. Cut the marked area to a depth of at least 10mm using a hand held concrete saw or disc grinder to avoid feather edging and to provide a square edge. Break out or chip the complete repair area down to sound base using sharp tools or chipping hammer.
Surfaces should be saturated with water to avoid possible backwater at the moment of casting. Before applying the screed for repairing, apply always the anchorage mortar to assure a perfect adhesion to the old cement support. Do not let the anchorage mortar dry but cast fresh on fresh.
For steel reinforcing use BETOFER or EPOZINC to coat steel bars to protect from rust and allow to dry before applying the repairing mortar.
Mixing
SBR LATEX RIPRESA must be diluted with water according to the required application (see the relative dosage table). The solution must be poured into a cement mixer and then cement and filler can be added. Mix for few minutes till homogeneous mixture free from lumps is achieved.
At cold conditions use warm water and at high temperatures use cold water to mix the product. Cure the surface immediately after applying the mortar by using BETOCURE, a curing compound or spraying water.
Recommendations
n The product delays slightly the initial setting of the mixture assuring at the same time a better curing. Don’t use pure product neither like primer nor as an adhesion bridge. It is supplied as a ready to use white liquid. It is also ideal for internal and external applications in conjunction with cement.
n The product should not be applied when temperature is below +5°C.
