Technical Information
Product Description

ELASTOKOL is an extremely elastic water based polymer. When mixed with cement tile adhesives, it improves remarkably the adhesion to the support, performing an elastic gluing which can absorb the different movements between structure and tile, and making the tile bedding impermeable as well.

NEOFIL tile adhesive + ELASTOKOL mix gives excellent adhesion to many types of surfaces such as concrete, bricks, glass, marble, ceramic, etc.

Compiliance Standard
  • EN 12004 as C2 (with NEOFIL F 8)
  • EN 12002 as S1 (according to the type of adhesive and dilution Ratio)
  • ANSI A118.4 – 1999 (with NEOFIL F 8)
  • EN 1348
Packaging, Coverage / Consumption

Packaging:

ELASTOKOL is available in 20 Liter cans and 200 Liter drums.

Consumption:

For each 25 Kg bag of tile adhesive:

  • To improve adhesion, mix 1.5 Liter of ELASTOKOL with 3.5 Liter of water
  • To improve adhesion with high flexibility, mix 2.5 Liter of ELASTOKOL with 2.5 Liter of water

Application Information
Instructions for use

Surface preparation

Supports must be solid, compact, free from dust, grease substances and inconsistent parts. New cement supports should have been allowed to cure sufficiently so that all shrinkage movements take place before fixing tiles.

Gypsum boards should not have a percentage of humidity more than 10% and must be previously treated with PRIMER A16.

Mixing

ELASTOKOL may partially or totally substitute the mixing water of the adhesives according to the elasticity required. Pour the 25 kg tile adhesive bag into a container with about 5 to 5.25 liters of ELASTOKOL, and mix until a homogeneous lump free mixture is obtained. Let the mixture rest for about 5 minutes and briefly remix before application.

Application

Spread the mixture on the substrate to a uniform thickness of 2–3 mm using a toothed spatula, the first pass with its straight edge and the second pass, immediately after, with the toothed part.

Place the tiles onto the adhesive bed. Apply sufficient pressure on the tile during fixing it with slight twisting movement in order to ensure good contact with the adhesive.

The adjustment time of the adhesives mixed with ELASTOKOL in regular conditions, will be less than normal adhesive mixture.

Joints can be executed after about 10 hours of tiling for walls, and after 24 hours for floors.
ELASTOKOL may be mixed with any type of powdered adhesives. The most advisable types of adhesives would be NEOFIL F 7, NEOFIL F 8 and MAXICOL. Adhesives mixed with ELASTOKOL may be used for the laying of big ceramic tiles
